Announcing Camp Bauercrest’s 2025 Alumni People of the Year:
Joanna Feldman and Matt Hodus
Each year, Camp Bauercrest honors exceptional alumni who continue to shape its legacy. For 2025, we are proud to celebrate Joanna Feldman and Matt Hodus as Alumni People of the Year for their lasting contributions to Bauercrest.

Joanna Feldman: Champion of Inclusion and Inspiration
First Summer: 2010 | Last Summer: 2016
Joanna Feldman is living proof that the Bauercrest family does not just refer to campers and counselors. To say she’s been an invaluable champion doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of the profound impact Joanna has had on camp. What started as a summer job during college grew into a full-time Assistant Director position after graduation; now, with her well-deserved seat on the Board of Directors, Joanna continues to personify leadership, service, and community– values nurtured during her time at camp. Joanna’s mission is to ensure Bauercrest remains a place of growth and connection for campers and alumni alike.
For Joanna, Bauercrest is more than a summer home— it’s where she grew up, formed lifelong friendships and discovered her core values. Those same friendships have endured, turning friends into family. "Bauercrest gave me the space to learn about myself and decide how I want to approach the world,” she says.
Her advice? “Stay involved in any way that’s meaningful to you, whether by working as a counselor, attending events or donating whenever you can,” Joanna says. “Every act of participation strengthens our collective impact on the community.”

Matt Hodus: Lifelong Crestman and Connector
First Summer: 1979 | Last Summer: 1988
For Matt Hodus, Bauercrest was a playground of opportunity where he learned, laughed and found his footing as a young adult. "Camp gave me confidence to try new things without fear of failure," he recalls. Bauercrest’s limitless activities and collaborative culture shaped Matt into a confident, adaptable team player who understands the lifelong value of community.
Matt’s philosophy about giving back is simple yet profound: PAY IT FORWARD. As he sees it, supporting Bauercrest is about ensuring that the next generation will also have the opportunity to unplug from their devices, embrace real connections and find their authentic selves. “Bauercrest is a village of caregivers and friends. In today’s world, giving kids the chance to spend time away from screens, with role models who are is more important than ever.”
